Great website! John W. Chandler, who was an attorney and judge in La Grange in the 1850's was my ggggrandfather. His daughter, Margret Chandler, married Mat S. Wallace who located in LaGrange after the Civil War. While there he was a photographer, owned a livery stable along with other endeavors. I'm always interested in anyone researching the Chandler, Wallace or Dunkin families.

I'm looking for information on Henry A. Allen and Ralph C. Allen who moved to Somerville in 1899. Family history indicates they purchased a sawmill (plantation) in 1904. I'm looking for details. Also, There was a son, Leonard C. who was born in Somerville in 1909 who may have died there before 1920. Any information would be fantastic. I'm planning on being in Somerville about June 19-20, 2009. Thanks

Great grandfather settled in Fayette County in 1883. I have tracked our family to 1754 in Northern Germany. I have also done the DNA testing to determine our blood line.

My ancesters' surname were East & Simmons. Were African-American lived in Fayette County during the 1800's and were probably slaves during the antebellum period. I am interested in determining whether or not there are any slave census listing owners with those names.

My great grandmother was Ella Shields. Her father was Tom Shield and mother was Sarah Lowe. Tom Shields father was Abram Shields. My granddmother was Rosa Lee Manor who lived in the Fort Worth, Texas area until her death 1988. If any Shields or Lowe's in the area, let me know. African-American Family members

I live in California but ALL of my family are from Texas. I was born in Texas. My aunt told me of the Fillmore's (my grandmother's family) and indicated they orginated in Fayette. I need help in finding info on them. They are african american, and perhaps, there are slave records to help me. Can anyone give me guidance?
