"A TREEmendous Beginning"

     A TREEmendous Beginning!

The Fayette County Genealogical Club, a non-profit organization, was created in 2007 so struggling family historians, joining forces, would have much greater opportunities to learn about the "what, where and how" of genealogy.

Genealogy and Family History

Genealogy is the study of the descents of families and persons from an ancestor or ancestors. This study is undertaken by many people out of interest in their personal and family origins. As a hobby it can become pleasantly addictive, at least to the person concerned.

More and More people are realizing the rewards of family history. The research can be fascinating and addicting, taking you from interviews with relatives to the internet to local and national archives and even graveyards. The result is an ancestral record for your family and future generations to treasure.

This ancestor-hunting is enjoyable, satisfying, and always full of surprises. It has all the intrigue of mystery. It has the thrill of the chase. It challenges and teases with unsolved puzzles.

Ever wonder whether YOUR ancestors followed their dream to the frontier? Whether they were one of those who struggled through hunger, hardships, and disasters? Whether they settled in the Midwest or ventured further to the West Coast?  ©
